Strictly from a biochemistry major's point of view...

Uses of limestone include: Added to bread and cereals as a source of calcium, Calcium supplement for poultry (when ground up), and Medicines.

SO, humans consume it safely as a calcium supplement. However, I'm not a tortoise expert, so I wouldn't know how to extrapolate this and apply it to tortoises. But that seems like a really good price for 5 lbs of it... That would last a longggg time.

That's my thinking, as well...between 2 torts, 2 box turtles and a dozen chickens, I figure this'll be awfully handy, and I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed anything important, 'cause down at the Health Foods store, 12 oz. of this stuff is $13.99!

I personally wouldn't want to buy anything edible that isn't factory sealed from Ebay...but that's just me. Limestone is a great calcium supplement if your torts like it (I have heard of some not liking the taste as much as the pure stuff, but I'm not sure how different the taste is as I haven't tried them myself lol).

I think its brilliant stuff, i use limestone flour daily with my tort.

Ground up oyster shell? You can get it cheap at Feed stores. sprinkle on food.. wet the grass and spread..
Its like a powder..

Wow...those folks don't let any grass grow under their toes...the calcium arrived in less than 48 hours!

Been lightly dusting both of my tortoises' greens and my daughter's box turtles' soaked catfood, greens and fruit and they all accept it readily...actually, the way the box turtles scarf down their feed, I doubt they even taste it!

Heartily recommend these folk's product!
