Woohooo :) I did it. I bought a tortoise. I don't know if i'm posting this in the right place but i'm just so darn excited.

She is a Leopard Tortoise,
she's approx 4 years old.

As soon as i saw her with her head on the glass, eyes closed, asleep I knew she was mine. She's so pretty. When she woke up she was so active. She just seems so lovely. :) Never thought i'd say it but is it possible to feel a connection with a tortoise?

I've named her Squirtle.
Squirt for short.
(Any geeks here, or people with kids, will get where the names from ;)
and i know. Squirtle was based on a turtle but i think it's a cool name!)

I've paid for her and I collect her on Sunday when my table should be ready :D

So i'll be sure to post lots of pictures of the table and her arrival.

A picture of her I took today with my phone.

(oh and we are guessing she's a female. I believe it's too early to sex her fully though?)

Hope you like her :) I think she has very pretty shell markings. Although I don't have a side photo yet.

How exciting!! It must be hard to wait, but your doing the right thing by getting things ready. I can tell she will be spoiled!

Very hard to sit here waiting.
I'd like to have everything perfect though.

I wasn't going to buy one today, just look, but when I saw her I just knew I couldn't risk her being sold before me being ready so asked if she could be reserved :)

This week is going to be the slowest week ever.
Luckily I've got lots of shopping to do for lights, substrate etc for her arrival, so that should keep me somewhat occupied.

Thank you :D
I'm quite literally grinning from ear to ear.
Now I need to go to sleep till Sunday! :p If only it were possible!

And I love the names of your tortoises Erin.
I'm a big Stars Wars fan, so fantastic name choices there in my opinion :D

Congratulations, she's beautiful! :)

I know how you feel about the wait. I decided back in mid-August that I was going to get a tortoise, but told myself I'd have to wait a month or so to be sure I'd learned as much as possible. I'm just preparing the table this week, and I've got my tortoise on reserve so that I can e-mail about her delivery once I've tested temperatures and humidity. In total, I'm going to be waiting a month to a month and a half for her, but I know it'll be worth it. Your tortoise looks like the perfect companion, so I'm sure you'll agree!

Cheryl - That is exactly what i am doing. I've been planning this for weeks and now this week I finally get to build my table up and get everything just right. And i have the tortoise to add now too :)

I'm glad you all like her.
I tried to remember everything I had read when choosing her so that I picked a healthy tortoise :)

I shall be posting for you all to guess her gender soon enough :)
The woman at the place seemed very knowledgeable and her guess was female.

I'm glad you all like her :D

My mum is already planning on turning a spare room (or putting my brother in the box room and turning his double room!) into a tortoise enclosure. She wants about 5 big full grown ones, that's 4 females and a male!
I'm shocked she didn't try to fit the big tortoises at the farm into her car and steal them. I thought she was going to try!
