Ok I’m seeing so much controversy about feeding pumpkins. My in-laws have a farm with pumpkins growing right now, as well as many other gourds and squash. Just trying to find accurate info on if these would be safe for a baby Sulcata? Both the fruit and/or the plant itself? Obviously I know not too much or too often. Just love the idea of free food and knowing where it came from!

I throw whole pumpkins in with my sulcatas. Then I get pumpkin vines sprouting all over the place in the spring time from their poop.

For babies and smaller tortoises, I grate up the whole pumpkins, skin and all, and mix that in with greens. The leaves and blooms are good tortoise food for any size tortoise any time. Bigger tortoises have no problem munching through the tough fibrous vines.
