No, you can not reverse it. However, you can get the new growth to grow in smooth and the hope is that when they are full grown, the pyramiding won't be so obvious.

No, it is not true...there is not no way you can reverse what has already been doe. You can stop, or slow the process...but it is cosmetic unless. There is MBD involved...

I didn't think so. I got my baby with a little bit of pyramiding and read something about it. I was hoping bit figure it wasn't true. Thank you!

Can you reverse it, in a sense that the already pyramided growth will just slowly sink in when things are corrected? No. But, at a small size (say under 5-6") if the tort is pyramided, the growth will smooth out with age, and may eventually become unnoticeable. I have a tortoise like this, with some pyramiding when it was younger and I got it, and now it is the smoothest rf in my herd. Yes, pyramiding will disappear in SOME cases, but this depends upon the severity of the pyramiding and the age of the pyramided tortoise.

Is the baby you're referring to the little sully in your profile pic?

Yes, when I bought him I knew nothing about torts and didn't realize that he has some pyramiding going on. He has grown a lot and still has a little but you can't see it so much as you used to. Basically, I bought him with pyramiding.

It will be less noticeable as the tort grows and gets older, but it doesn't go away, so to speak.
Thankfully, unless there is MBD, it's generally just cosmetic.

When I first got my Redfoot, she was about 7, and a bit small for her size, with a decent amount of pyramiding. As she's gotten older (Now well over 8) and a bit bigger, it sticks out a lot less. It will definitely always be noticeable, but she is perfectly healthy and happy, and doesn't bother her at all. (Except maybe making it slightly more difficult to right herself if she flips.)
