Question about soaking

I aim to soak my Russian Tortoise (about a year old) five times a week. My question is, if I see him drinking out of his water bowl do I need to soak him anyway?

I don't mean not soak him at all, i'm wondering if I should just skip that day since i saw him drink.

Soaking is still good for them even if they drink on their own. I soak about 3x a week on my critters.

Yes. And you will also see him drink as he soaks.
Every day is not needed. Once every few days should do.
