question about sphagnum moss

I have just received my sphagnum moss, it was the block type you soak in water,once its in the hide do i keep the moss damp or the soil under it or both

I usually keep both of them fairly damp. I just spray the whole cage down with a squirt bottle and I have found that from spraying at the top of the enclosure I achieve a more desirable humidity versus just pooring a glass of water in there.

I just keep ambient humidity since mine doesn't use a hide yet, but I do use sphagnum moss. I keep it as the top layer and my tort likes to hide in it. Sort of like being hidden in tall grass. Feels safe I suppose.

I find it sort of hard to keep that layer moist though since it dries out so quickly. I mist it thoroughly and by the end of the day it's fairly dry. The coco/peat substrate underneath does stay moist though...
