Getting fresh substrate today and installing RHP and got to thinking on an immediate project. Johnnys bulbs are needing raised and every way I have looked at it gets shutdown. I need ideas. We open this sucker everyday for water dish and interactions outside. The whole top is a lid. Shower rod or pole idea wouldnt work cause I would need to find a way to move all of it in order to open the top. All I figure is bolting a DIY base to the top. That way it is secure when opened as well. Now I aint the greatest when it comes to hardware but ive managed so far. Just dont want a fire hazard and the wood scares me already. So does PVC. I just got to find a way to hang these lights. And with us putting his heat panel in its reducing some bulbs and unfortunately im gonna have to spend even more money on smaller single light fixtures to do away with these bulky duals. So cheapest safest way possible. Especially considering that this is all just temporary AGAIN til his outdoor enclosure is finished. Ain't kidding when they say they belong outside to roam. Understand the husbandry when they babies. However you need a yard setup ASAP. Lots of money goes into it when its free sunlight and grass. Lol. Things we do for these loves. Anyways....much thanks for any advice.

Maybe doing 2 separate raised table boards using 2x4 on either side of top. Then screwing bulbs in with these figures? Yes or no? Lol again im spit balling here.

I can't think of a way to do it with that enclosure. Top opening enclosures don't work well precisely for this reason. Solid tops with front opening doors are the way to go for future reference.

You could build a moveable frame work with PVC or 2x4s that sits over the entire enclosure and mount the fixtures to that. Then slide the whole thing out of the way when its time to open the top.

Yea i realize im working with what i got. It sucks. u dont think drilling a raised wooden board vertically on either side would work? Bout 8 inches high and then drilling a couple those fixtures to the bottom of it to hang over top? Then I could just raise the whol lid up with lights secured? Pvc is too thick considering there is no room between wall and enclosure. I had thought about going to get metal bending for a rod to maybe screw into each side of enclosure to hang them. Just to make sure I could swivel them outward when having to access the top. But felt the secured wooden table top would be more stable. Its hard to explain the vision to you guys. I know it probably sounds dumb or unrealistic but it seems safe and secure enough right? Lol im trying u guys.

Yes. If the overhead "rack" for the lights is attached to the lid, then the whole thing can lift up as one piece. I don't thin it would be too heavy, but you'd be limited on how far you could open the lid with that on top. I'd make a "prop" of some sort to hold the lid open while working in the enclosure.

Yes we have a prop already for it. And after doing substrate we are getting hooks and chords to rig a pulley system for it to make it even easier. Lol

Hi!
Maybe you can just unscrew the hinges and add "table legs" to the lid? You can hang lightning fixtures from the lid using hooks and will have frontal access to the enclosure.

And why to get rid of double fixtures? You can put LED bulbs there for ambient light.

Well I was wondering about the weight of big duals before with screwing the bulbs into the frame id build. But omg ur idea is so much better. And easier. I like it. Thanks alot !
