After seeing Chad's box turtles it made me go thru my pictures and look at my box turtles and I thought I would share a couple with the group...

this female is so pretty for a 3-toed

This is my blind ornata, look at what is sitting next to her...

I guess I need to provide another roller pan

This is the Goofball, he'd be able to be sitting in water except he gets under the saucer and tips the water out, then climbs into the empty saucer, hence the name Goofball. He has also tried to mate with the yellow rubber glove I wear when going about my chores...

so that's some of them I have several more but I think that's enough for now. I hope you enjoyed them

Hiya Maggie ~

Aww, what an xllnt lil' group you have going there ~ and yes, your female is stunning; my three-toe was much more bland in colorations than yours! And yeah, it that egg from your blind lil Ornate Boxie? You know, in NC, they are so abundant; you can find them along the side of the road (and sometimes crossing the road) all the time ~ and they sure are gorgeous lil' torties; full of character, as I imagine you are well aware of, lol.

What a little goofball your Goofball is, LOL ~ he looks just adorable sitting in that bowl, lol, with his hind leg just stretched out as he looks up at you like "Hiya Mom!"... omgosh, too too cute! :D

Thanx for the share ~ you surely made me smile!!
Blessings to you & yours, Purpod

Pictures of your box turtle collection would not be complete unless you include Tweezer! I think he's the crown of the collection.

Nice pics Maggie!

Since I'm new to 3 toes - are their nails usually that long? Mine has really long nails front and back. I clipped then back as well as I could, but they are still long. I just figured it was because he was kept in a tank with loose substrate and no way to dig or wear them down...

Awesome boxies Maggie! Makes me really wish I still had mine. It kills me that I paid so little attention to them.

Was that egg fertile btw???

When they mate the male grabs the female with his back feet and he gets them hooked as she closes up her 'box'. So I think that is why the males claws are so long. I think Goofball's claws are a little longer then they should be, and I have clipped them several times but they always grow back almost immediately.
