I'm just curious, if extra scutes are possibly correlated with high incubation temperatures and females, are missing scutes correlated with lower tempetatues and males?

I don't think I've ever heard that before, but my guess is that any abnormal scute pattern might mean the high temp/female thing.

That was what I thought, too but does the high temperature cause the shell to over develop in a sense? If so, less scutes would be under developed. Does that make sense?

Missing Scute? What is there in its place? Do you mean there is no defining boundary between a couple of scutes? I would still call this a "scute abnormality" and classify it the same as I would a split scute.

My Littlefoot is missing a scute. I'm guessing the op means something like this.

Littlefoot is the only one I've seen like that:)

Yes I meant like Littlefoot and I was thinking that if high temperatures can possibly "cause" another scute to form then lower temperatures could cause one of the scutes not to form. Just a random theory that had no scientific backing. Littlefoot is adorable:)
