Hi can y'all help I just saw my tortoise trying to eat this but honestly have no idea what it is?

Looks like it might be in the spurge family. When you break it does it bleed white sap?

Spurge is edible in small amounts.

I agree w/Yvonne: that was my first thought. It grows wild here in Socal, as well, and is a native food source for the desert tortoise...yours looks like a close relative

My little one, he is about 26 grams, ate that once and it looked like he was drooling. Scared the heck out of me. He fought like mad when I pulled him away from it. Like a fat kid from cake, so I guessed it was pretty tasty but I didn't let him eat it any more. Good to know he can eat it and it is supposed to ooze.
