The list above is the best food for a tortoise. You can grow or buy the yummy treats below for your tortoise once in a while. Just be sure there are no pesticides on them and serve them raw, please.
1.Broccoli.
2.Collard greens.
3.Corn on the cob.
4. Endive.
5. Romaine lettuce.
6. Tomatoes.

I certainly would not feed my torts this on a daily basis, toms have an ingriendient that is not to good for Reptiles plus it has a lot of acid. Wild greens are the best grown in your own garden. Tortoisetrust.org has a good list for most species of torts..

I do not feed brocoli, endives, corns and tomatoes to Hermy . Collard greens once in a while. Romaine lettuce is ok but part of a varried diet.
Why would you make a post like that with wrong infos???

Since you have posted this under "General Tortoise Discussion" I assume you mean this stuff is good for all torts! It is not all good for ALL torts! I'm not so sure all this stuff is good for SOME torts.

What list "above" are you refering to?

marksonamor,
I have to ask how long you have had tortoises or turtles and what kind you have?
Where have you gotten this information? Do you know the nutritional values of these specific foods and what things (Goiter causing ingredients or tannins, etc) that may be in them that may affect your tort or turtle?

Could you tell us a little about yourself and your care and experience with tortoises and or turtles and which kind?

Hi Mark:

While we DO encourage folks to post about their tortoise experiences, I'm thinking that you really don't know that much about a tortoise's diet. Most of the items you've listed are not good to feed on a regular basis. The endive is the only thing I would feed regularly. The rest of the items should only be fed occasionally or as a treat.

What kind of tortoise are you feeding these foods to? Can we see a picture?

Wow is it just me being paranoid or are we getting more and more
of these types of postings?

"Don't forget the French Fries. Torts LOVE French Fries."

Now would that be supersized too.
