In my endless searching and effort to learn more and keep records of all of our herps, I came across this software called Herp Care Software. I found it on Ron Tremper's website in his care sheet for geckos. There was a link to the software. The software can be found at http://www.thegeckocam.com/hcs/what/index.php. I believe the guy who designed it is located in Belgium. The software is free to download. He has a link for donations and I contacted him and it is current.
Now for what it has to offer. He outlines it very well on the website and there is a demo video. This software allows you to list each animal. It allows for a picture to be added to each animal. For each animal there are several icons to click on to add data for that animal such as breeding, weights, measurements, feeding, shedding, and sickness. I have found it very user friendly and a great tool. It certainly makes tracking 44 tortoises and a lizard much easier. I now have under each egg laying female, the date eggs were laid and their weights. The animal's weights are easily exported to an Excel spreadsheet for easy graphing and calculations. Additionally it has a library where you can input data and store it. It also has an area for tracking cages, when cleaned and what substrate is used.
I highly recommend this software as a great tool for those of us with several tortoises. It is very cool.
