Red Ear Slider Nesting

One of my long term captive Red Ears was nesting this morning so I took some pics of her process.I happened by as she was completing the nest digging,Picture 3685 copy.jpgThen came the first egg Picture 3687 copy.jpgShe laid 7 eggsPicture 3693 copy.jpg After each egg she would use her left leg to set it in the proper place,Picture 3691 copy.jpgWhen finished she started filling the nestPicture 3698 copy.jpg And when finished this what she left behindfinished.jpgI will leave the eggs in place to hatch naturally.

Very cool pictures!! So cool that you were able to get so close without disterbing her!!
When I first noticed her digging the nest she had already seen me, so I backed off. There is a solid barrier so she couldn't see me walking up to where she was. When they start laying they don't pay attention to what going on around them, It's like they go into a trance.
