Redfoots enclosure

Hi there,
I'm about to build indoor enclosure for our two baby redfoots. I'm planning on a timber frame and plywood floor sides and roof and a couple of acrylic doors/Windows. My question is can I seal the wood with polyurethane varnish, or should I use something else .
Also if anyone has any advise tips before I start I would be most grateful, many thanks,

Personally, if you can go with a tarp of some sort, or vinyl tiles. I personally do not trust a treatment in with my animals. My members have used it. They usually go with dry-lock.
