Hi, I'm looking to home a tortoise. I would prefer to take someone whose has a tortoise(s) who they can no longer look after. I'm in donegal.
Thank you

What species of tortoise? What size and age?

Different species need wildly different care. And every species requires a lot of space.
What particular type are you looking for specifically?
(Your post is too vague.)

I would go with a species from the Testudo genus (Mediterranean tortoises) if I were you. Ibera Greek, Eastern Hermann's, Western Hermann's (if you're lucky enough to come across one for rehoming), Horsfield/Russian etc. Keeping a tropical species in Donegal would be a challenge I'd have thought!

There is a link to an excellent care guide for temperate species, like those mentioned above, in the thread SinLA has linked you to which will give you an idea of their care needs.

Here is what a big sulcata can do. If they really want to get out. 😁Screenshot_20210901-171346_Samsung Internet.jpg
