Hi, I am very sad that I need to rehome my Russian Tortoise Ernie (a girl actually) that I have had for 12 years. I have developed a neurological disorder and am finding bending difficult sometimes. I live in Atlanta and am willing to drive or meet half way for an hour or two for the right person. There is no rehoming fee, but I owe it to Ernie to find an experienced, responsible new friend whom I'm sure will take good care of her. I think she was a baby when I got her (about 5 inches long), so about 12 - 13 years old. She is very smart, has never bitten me (but I am gentle with her and rarely hold her, she does let me pet her head), clearly recognizes me every day, and she is an avid listener, so a very special girl. She is in good health.
Alternatively, if anyone knows of a good rescue (or has ideas) that could help me find Ernie a safe home, I would greatly appreciate the information as well. Thanks very much for your help.
