Hey guys, the little ones shell is soft on the bottom. He's about 8 months old. Is this normal? Or a sign of things to come? Thanks!

Soft how?

Soft as in a little resiliant, like stiff but thin plastic. Presses in with firm pressure but resists and bounces right back?

Or soft as in kind of leathery- does not take a lot of pressure, does not resist, and does not instantly bounce back?

The first is not that big a deal- the plastron has to have some give for the rapid growth coming up. The second is a metabolic bone disease, probably due to the calcium, phosphorous, and vitamin D ratios.

At that age, there can still be some softness, but not so soft that it feels leathery to the touch. Answer Mark's questions and let us know.

Its more like the the first one. The reason why I'm asking is because he has white spots on his shell I thought it might be fungal or some other issue. Thank you for your advice!!!
