I'm still learning as I go, I'm a first time tort owner. I've had this little guy since August. Any input on if the ridge I feel and see is an early indication of pyramiding? I'd sooner work on adjusting my housing now than have larger pyramids that I can't correct. He's currently in my snake room which is humidified and is misted at least once or twice a day. But I live in the great white North where humidity is 30% tops during winter in a humidified room and 0% everywhere else. 20160125_063518.jpg 20160125_063512.jpg 20160125_063500.jpg

Hi! IMO it doesn't look bad at all, nice tort! However, 30% humidity is not enough for redfoots, they need at least 70-80%. Could you provide a closed chamber type enclosure to achieve a higher humidity?

The growth looks fine, but everything looks awfully wet for a RF. Watch out for shell rot.

Thanks guys. I that picture I had just given a really good mist. As for a humid hide, he often buries himself so I've never worried much about a humid hide.

Hi and welcome. Your substrate looks too wet, maybe too much spraying.
Have you got any spagnhum moss in there for him/her. You need some minimum 2" deep, 3" if possible, moist not sodden, your tort will hide in it and it will help with humidity levels. Put some in and around your hide. What is your temperature at?
