My Russian tortoise was in his outdoor enclosure and my dog some how got to him . It doesn't look like he has had any injures to his shell or anything but he won't come out . It's been about half and hour and he won't come out of his shell I'm getting worried.

soak him in warm water. then leave him in his enclosure, maybe in his hide or shaded area so he feels protected. Give him time. If he is scared, he needs time. I would minimize handling for a while until he's okay again, though you do want to check to make sure there are no injuries once he starts peeking out again.

Torts take time and a lot of time to adapt to a new environment, new place, new enclosure, new owner, and the rest.:tort: They do NOT like change. Therefore a lot of patience is required, here.

Please post pics of your tort as well as its enclosure.:)

And read the "Beginners Mistakes" Thread, as well as care sheets that will definitely help you deal with your tort.:D

And welcome to the forum!

He's not in "shock". He's just avoiding a predator that is in the area. He'll come out when he's ready.

He came out of his shell looks fine now . He is eating and behaving normally . Seems like he will be ok .

My dog broke the enclosure. I'm planing on making it more secure . As of right now he will not be going outside until I can improve on it for his safety

Let us know if you want some tips. I'm a dog trainer and I work with all sorts of exotic animals every day too, so I have learned a few things about how to make secure caging. Happy to help.
