Hi guys! My Russian Tort Cheeseburger has peed pink today and yesterday. Her appetite is normal for winter time. I usually feed her organic spring mix (with a carrot, apple, etc as a treat maybe once a week.) I haven't taken her outside to the park as much lately (I don't have a yard.) I did however feed her some warmed green beans 2 days ago as a treat. She inhaled them! Could that be causing her pink pee? Thanks for reading!

I'm not sure on the pink urine, but treats like apples, carrots, or any treat should be once a month, if at all. Once a week is kind of risky, in my opinion. I did some reading and found that pink urine could mean a bladder infection, but I am not sure, so don't panic.

I read on here once it could be caused by eating a lot of dandelion greens I believe. I'm sure there are other causes as well. Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks guys her urates were a pale yellow today. I'm guessing they will be back to white tomorrow. I will cut down on the treats. It's just hard for me to find things that give her variety. Thanks so much for the responses!

You may need to grow your own foods. I don't have Russians, but with my sulcata I bought seeds and seed mixes and started them in flats inside. When he got older I planted a section of my yard with a variety of plants that he could graze on or I could cut and add to his chow. There are several sources for ordering seeds on line. My favorite is Peaceful Valley Farms, http://www.groworganic.com/seeds.html, Carolina Pet Supply, http://www.carolinapetsupply.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=41, and Tortoise Supply, http://www.tortoisesupply.com/brands/Tortoise-Supply.html. I am sure you can find the best mix for your Russian.

Thank you. What kind of soil do you tend to use with these? I want to make sure I pick something healthy and I live in an apartment in Los Angeles so I will definitely NOT be growing anything outside nor using soil from outside. Thanks!
