Just looked up the law in the UK for giving live animals as prizes! In Scotland it is Banned outright! (Go Scottish!!!!) But in the rest of the UK you have to be over 16 (the minimum age for buying a pet, or winning one as a prize, without parental accompaniment!). Which was only raised from 12 in 2007!!! (The Animal Welfare Act 2007). So very wrong!!!!

Hi there,

I'll order you a tank and some supplies online if you can go save that turtle. Even if you can only keep it a little while, it will at least be out of the freaking cup until another home can be found. Please PM me if you are interested. My biggest fear is that someone else will get it and continue to keep it in a damn cup.

I just emailed her to see if she would ship him... I can't see him staying in that cup for another day... Disgusting... I can't believe they are offering the cup too!!! And to say that they just don't want it anymore?!? Complete disregard for a living animal

We recently took in 6 RES hatchlings from someone on Craigslist here in Phoenix. She kept an initial total of at least 7 in a little 1 gallon fishbowl (She told us that she already sold some others). We went to her house twice, once when we picked up the first 4, and again the next day so we could get the rest. We picked up 2 out of the last 3 - and she would not give us the last one. She said the baby was blind and he needed 'special care', which she obviously was not giving him. Craigslist seems to be the place for ridiculousness.

Ugh, how awful! If I were closer, I'd take him just to get him out of the cup... :(

Wow. That woman sounds like a real piece of work. Maybe you should send her pictures of your turtle tanks to show her what "special care" (for that matter, PROPER care) REALLY looks like? Probably pretty slim odds, but maybe she would pull her head out of her... I mean, see the error of her ways if it's shown to her how her "care" compares to proper husbandry.
