This might seem like a trivial question, but what do you use for masking opaque or clear walls in your indoor pens?
I bought a large plastic bin and laid it on its side as an extension for Taco's house, and at first I did not cover the "walls" because they were opaque. I soon found her trying to climb through them, so I taped some National Geographic magazine photos with scenery on them to cardboard and then sort of wallpapered well up above her eye level with them.
In a clear demonstration of astute memory capability, she continues to go over there about once every two days, and leans up on her hind legs to push and claw her way through to the outside she KNOWS is there just beyond. One of my kids suggested the scenery photos make her think she's out in the wild so she is just trying to join up with that herd of elephants, and that I would have better luck with pictures of rocks or just plain cardboard.
Is this a problem anyone out there has had and solved? I do let her go outdoors to her pen by the patio whenever the temperature is 70 or above, but those days will be fewer and farther between now. I also let her cruise around the carpeted eating area floor, which is enclosed by steps she cannot traverse, so it is safe and fairly warm and I monitor her and put her back once she hides herself in a corner to nap.
