Scratching tortoise neck

I have two red foots one is 3 the other is around 9 when u scratch there neck they both kick there legs like a dog would, do they enjoy this or is it annoying them?

Hi Craig:

Some tortoises really enjoy for you to rub their shells or neck and some hate it. But I've never known any of mine to kick their leg while I'm doing it. Since tortoises DON'T scratch like dogs, but rather they "wipe" their leg across their eyes/face, I don't know what that means when yours "shakes a leg!"

When RV is content, she allows us to rub her head, neck and legs. She's gone to sleep while we rub her gently. It's a sweet feeling.

trust me they kick those legs just like a dog being scratched behind the ear. generally the front ones.

Mine hides when i stroke his head but really seems to enjoy when i rub his neck/throat area. he will close his eyes and fall asleep! =D
