Sensitive shell

Lou seems to not mind when I stroke his shell unless I touch the shell right above the tail. When I do he startles and runs a few steps. He really really looked pissed after I did this. Is he alright or am I not giving him something he needs and it's causing sensitivity? Most tortoises are sensitive in this area and don't seem to like to be touched there.

I noticed that the other day. Maybe it's their tickle spot. Needless to say not scratching him there again.

Btw Lou has a very nice shell. Very round and pretty.

Really? You think it's good? I wasn't sure because he never had any lights or any sun exposure that I know of before he came to me. That is a relief to hear. Thank you

He's a pretty boy to me. Come to think of it he kind of looks like my Russian.
