Alright.. well Dewey gets really scared when I put in my finger or somefood or fill up her water dish or spray her enclosure. My friends turtle isn't scared at all though. But Dewey... nnow if I even walk to her enclosure she will go in her shell as fast as she can. And she does that to everybody. Any help? Thanks.

it will just take time, remember to a tortoise you look like a predator, even if you bring them food and water. Sooner or later dewey will realize you are not a threat and then you probably won't be able to get him to leave you alone LOL :)

Treats (bribes) make for faster friendships...when Dewey thinks of you as the Bringer Of
Yummies
, Dewey will quickly come out of his/her shell (pardon the pun ;))...

Also, it seems the blind spots of a tortoise are immense! Sometimes I'll be watching them in their enclosure, and if I move just an inch to one side or the other, they spook like "Holy Crap! Where did that giant floating head just come from??!" So, maybe hum or talk or some such. It's kinda like dealing with horses. You have to talk through certain places or they will lose you in the blind spots.
