I understand the humidity answer completely :D
I'm sorry if my phrasing seemed a little confusing! My question is, what do they need?
I just want to know what involves keeping one. With other species, it's very straightforward and easy to find what they need in captivity.
How much room do they need? What kind of substrate? What temperatures are okay? Basic care information. It seems like everything out there 'glazes' over the details of these little tortoises, and only provides what they are and where they come from.
Straightforward-I want to learn more about them, does anyone have a caresheet or link I could read that's correct?
I apologize if my post wasn't very clear!:)

I get the humidity answer, but how'd you sort that out from the question. Sometimes I see this where the question seemed vague to me, but others hit it.

Ahh. Now I get what you are asking. My assumption from post number one was that the OP wanted care info. My answer wasn't just about humidity, although that is an important key, obviously. If you look at the third sentence of post number 2 in this thread, you'll see that I was relating that I housed these 5 pancake babies the same way as I house my sulcata babies and my intention was to relate how successful that was. The implication being that the OP could just follow the sulcata care sheet if she wanted to raise some healthy pancake babies.

Oh. So their care is very similar? Nothing 'special' if compared to a sulcata hatchling?

I might make more vertical climbing space in a pancake enclosure, and more slab layers for them to hide in, but yes, essentially the care is the same.

Two things for this topic,

1) From the OP's question how did you, Tom and Cowboy Ken figure it was about humidity?

2) Single or multiple, sometimes male will tussle with each other, but for the most part they do fine as singles or in groups.

And for the record, they do live in areas with a naturally higher humidity than the surrounding countryside. I have raised many pancakes, kept on a paper towel changed daily. In the morning the towel is wetted so it lays down and keeps humidity up. The box they are in is slightly tilted so the down side ends up with about an 1/8 inch standing water. This dries out by the next day, but is down again. The box lid covers 3/4 of the box, with just enough open so direct light can get to them. I use the lid to a small yogurt cup for the water dish, and I place the tortoise in the water dish each morning. After doing this for a few days, they will just come over and get into the dish on their own.

@YellowTurtle01 was your question about humidity? Diet? What exactly are you reading to get such strong conflicting (severe constridictions) information? What are the contridictions you are hearing/reading?
I still do the paper towel trick myself. Funny to read this. I learn from having them and reading a lot.

I had bad luck hatching eggs by adding to much moisture. As far as my adults the more room the better, the happier the cAkes.I am going for a3 feet wide and at least 6 feet long. For my indoor. I will then be able to up grade the rest of the cAkes.good luck.

Thanks guys :D
So nothing special about their nails getting rubbed down/shell abrasions with extra rock and hard surfaces?
