I’m thinking I agree with you, too small. If you can give a side view picture of its carapace that could help narrow it down more.

How big is your tortoise? From the growth patterns I see it looks about 8-10”. At that size it is too young to sex reliably. I do see some things that make me want to guess male at this point. I never feel confident about my guesses until about 16” and 16 lbs unless I see a male flash - then you know early it’s male for sure

A bit bigger than I guessed but still too small to know for sure. If it were one I was raising and playing my guessing game - I would put it down as 75% male in my records

Without supplying a side view photo of the plastron, is it concave for easier nesting on the back of a female or is it flat?

Yeah that’s why I posted this. Starting to look a little concave to me as well
