Hi all,

My tort is about 9 years old (small for her age) and recently I've noticed this dip on her shell. I was wondering if I should be concerned. Getting a photo was tough but I hope you can see what I mean? Should I he worried or take her to the vet ?

Thankyou!

I am also not sure if I am posting this is the correct place ? Sorry xx

From what I can see, it doesn't appear to be a serious problem at this time. Are there other areas which have the same thing or is this the only one?

This is where new shell growth occurs. Do you have an overhead light/heat source? It might be too close to the shell and is too hot for the new growth.

Could we please see a picture of the whole tortoise it might be pyramiding, which you don’t need to take her to the vet for.
I have just taken pictures - sorry if they are blurry I just wanted to get some right away. If you need better ones I can send more. (Excuse the fact that she is inside on tile it's not normally the arrangement shes had to come in unexpectedly this morning because harmful disinfectants are being sprayed in our area due to covid 19.)

Currently her enclosure outside has no overhead light or anything like that because it is already very warm this time of year. Could the heat outside be a problem? She has always been outside this time of year since she was little.

The shell appears a bit dry. Do you soak this tortoise daily or not? If not, I suggest doing so for about 15-20 minutes daily. I think it may help the shell to grow better.

Only every 3 days or so as it used to distress her a lot when she was small. I will start this thankyou !!!!
