Post a picture and we will be better able to help. Its hard to say whats going on without a pic. Some torts have slights bumps on the individual scutes sometimes its bad and could be from a bad diet and sometimes its really just nothing at all. I have a Russian as well and he has a slight bump on each of his mid scutes and its nothing more than a "birth mark" of sorts. So post some pictures and we will be able to let you know how your tort is looking.
Congrats on the Russian as well. They are awesome and have attitudes and personality's bigger than a humans some days. They really are loving torts and they definitely know who you are. Do you have a male or female or is it just to early to tell?

Hi Scott:

Don't worry about the slight pyramiding on your Russian tortoise. This happens during the first year of life, and is usually only cosmetic. There's nothing you can do now but set the tortoise up correctly and give him the best care you know how. He'll be fine.

It was probably due to not having enough sunshine and moisture when he was a baby.

Most of us put our pictures into a program like photobucket.com or tinypic.com, then copy/paste the
