shell peeling??

I just noticed this on my tortoise today after a soak, is this normal?? the other part of her shell has been like that since we got her. IMG_4378.jpeg

How long have you had your tortoise? It looks like an old injury that is causing the scutes to fall off due to new growth. I'm not am expert.

Ensure regular warm shallow soaks for 30 mins in a high sided container. Check diet and ensure calcium is provide for good shell, bone, beak and claw growth. I would also give the shell a gentle run over with a soft toothbrush and wipe on some coconut oil on the top to help moisturise new growth and scutes. Enjoy

should i do coconut oil after the lights go off so she doesn’t get cooked lol

It's better to do after soaking to trap more moisture on the shell.

You need to apply a really thin layer and then gently wipe the shell with a paper towel or cloth. The shell should not be shining like a bowling ball.

I apply after a soak with kitchen Paper and gently rub over. Tricky parts I rub in oil with a finger. Heat should not be so hot or close to fry it!
