When I moved my 3yr old outside basically forever he was fine all summer. For the winter he is on a heating pad & my husband put up a side heater which worked until the temp dropped into the teens & 20s at night. He hung another side heater & that did the trick but I didn’t bother to look where he hung it until I noticed 1 of his scutes was oozing almost all the way around. He was getting too close to the new heater which was a lot lower & he was getting burned or drying out too much so the scute shrunk? I don’t really know but once the heater was moved up it stopped oozing & the ooze dried up & hardened all the way around the scute…no more problems & btw he loved cruising around in the snow all winter (maybe kept him hydrated?)

Can't really see what is going on or what may have caused it. Keep it clean and put some over the counter antibiotic cream on it daily after a warm water daily soak. Do this until healed.
I got him from pet smart almost 2 months ago I’ve been giving him calcium 2 times every week and leave the uvb on for at least 2 hours a day( should I do more time or maybe my UVB isn’t good) his substrate isn’t too damp most of the time isn’t damp at all. I also bath him every day for 15 mins, he eats daily as well..
could the temperature/humidity be bad too? I have the humidity around 60 and the heat stays at 80 and I try to cool it down more but it’s been hot the past few days here so its been hard to lower the temperature in his tank( I am currently building a tortoise tower for him)
