Shell rot?

Does this look like shell rot? He didn't seem to like it when we touched him there.

What part are you talking about? I don't see any developing anywhere. I'm assuming this is a cherry and that's the marbling coming in.

Looks like new growth/marbling if its a cherry.

Yes, although it's not actually the marbling that's sensitive, it's the new growth.
