Hi! I am new. I'm trying to do everything right for my new baby. I have seen alot about pyramiding and I'm concerned. Are there signs to look for? Here is a picture of my baby, does she look okay?

Hi Christine:

The picture makes the baby look a little on the dry side. Notice that high ridge just at the edge of each scute? I'm thinking his habitat might be kept just a bit more moist.

I have her in a 100 gallon tank, the temp on the warm side is 100-110, is that too hot? I soak her daily. Should I mist her more?

Looks ok.. but yes,, there is a bit of ridge..
What type of enclosure do you have? Humidty? diet?

She is in a 100 gallon. She has kale, carrots, dandelion greens. I soak her daily. Any suggestions on what to do different?

Hi there !
I have a link for u that will keep your baby from pyramiding :)

Here r some more that u can look at and read

This one is just on interesting bit about pyramiding and how it effects their shell. I thought it was really cool

Basically if you keep your baby hot, humid, and hydrated he will be super healthy and good looking :)
Keep your little one at at least 80 degrees
Keep his humidity up around like 80% (ways to achieve this is by covering all the enclosure (lights and everything) or just part of the enclosure and then pouring hot water straight into the substrate and mixing it all around and squirting down his whole enclosure(top, sides, substrate) real good multiple times a day)
Keep him hydrated by soaking everyday, squirting him, and squirting his food whi,e he eats it.
Hope this helps :)))

Thanks for the info. I'm going to change her substrate and keep her more hydrated. With these changes will she be better or have I done permanent damage?

I wouldn't say you have done damage at all really because your little one is so young and is barely pyramiding. Now that you have change her enclosure to be more humid she will grow smooth from now on and soon in like 6- 7 months she will have grown smooth so much that the very little pyramiding now won't even be noticeable barely. Once she is like 8 inch long and years old, if she is kept in the create humidity and soaked throughout that time, you definitely will not be able to even tell. :)
No you can't reverse that pyramiding but over time it won't even be noticeable or matter :tort:

Thank you so much! I feel better now. I got the coco noir and I got her a humidity box. So hopefully things will get better.
