Well today I have been noticing that Tony isn't pacing the fence anymore.. He spent a few hrs laying in the sun eating grass then went right to a corner of the yard under a peach tree were the ground is damp and there is shade and is just sitting there..been about an hr.. Temp outside is about 78*F..

Should I be concerned..I thought they liked the heat..Is this normal behavior??

Thank you[/i]

I would not be concerned. If Tony stay's in that spot all day without moving then be concerned.

Mine are only active in the morning and late evening, so it may just be nap time. Perhaps he just wanted a change to his routine. Watch him for a few days and see how it goes but probably nothing to worry about.

Yeah, as long as he is eating good and moving around some I wouldn't be overly concerned.

I'm probably over concerned.. I know reptiles thermo regulate by moving in and out of basking area.. But doesn't seem that warm...all he did the last two days is walk all around the fence... Swear he was looking for a way out..

Funny when he first went out today he sprawled in the middle of the yard and ate all the grass around him.. Then he moved a few inches and did the same..

After that he paced the fence then went under the peach tree and hasn't moved now in two hrs..

My guys use to pace ....until they were totally settled into their yards...oh and after they dug their own burrows/hides....this seemed to have made them relax and the pacing only happens for a bit and it is more like a walk about vs pacing.....he may have found a fun comfortable spot is all :p

Watch him too...if he is hanging out in a particular spot and that spot is under a tree/shrub keep in mind tortoise love to dig burrows under trees/shrubs..... :D
