Hi. I am new to the forum, and wondered if the action of my tortoise, whom I found in my friends garden a year ago.
She eats her dinner and goes straight under her bridge or into her house.
She has never done this before in all the months we have had her.
It is very worrying.

Hi, and welcome!

In order to give you our best opinions we're going to need more information:

species?
enclosure size?
indoors?
food?
age/size?
recent changes in his life?
and anything else you think might help us

She is a herman tortoise.
Enclosure is 1m square.
She is indoors. I put her out yesterday on the grass, and she disappeared into the dark growth.
I give her red and green lettuce. Spinach and rocket. She loves Apple. And tomatoes, cucumber and sometimes dandelion leaves. And sometimes a strawberry.
She is approx 7 years, and 287gram last Monday.
We found her in a friends garden last June.
No recent changes in her life, but for the past 4 weeks after dinner she hides away under her bridge.
We did not hibernate in the winter, as I was informed to leave her a year before doing so.
But she was happy under her sun lamp all day.
She has always been very lively, climbing over her bridge and stones.

Not that this is why your tortoise is acting like how you said, Your herman could use a bigger enclosure
