Snapping Turtles Doing Something I Have Never Seen

These are two sibling 3 year old common snappers that were bottom to bottom and doing barrel rolls on the surface, I happen to see this by chance and had time to get a couple (not real good) pics,After they finished I got one to check it out and there were no injuries to it.The other one went to the bottom.I have no idea what their sexes are.

Interesting. I'm sure they mate like other water turtles, and I've seen fighting that looks like mating. Wonder what that was supposed to be? Playing? Is that lighter turtle on the bottom in the last picture a real turtle? Does that mean that you can have other turtles in the same pond with snappers? I've got mine separate from my pond because I'd heard that you can't have other turtles with snappers because they're so mean.

That was mating or attempted mating. :) Snappers are one of the few turtles that can and do mate belly to belly sometimes.
