I’ve done this everyday since I’ve had him (3 days)but no poo yet I think I’ve just seen a wee ? and he has passed the urates everyday but when/how often should they go a poo?

Yep, you got it. Nothing wrong with a little bit higher water level. A good gauge of water temp is to make it about what the ambient temp is in the enclosure... I found our Sully liked it pretty warm & would spread out & relax. Scrambled more once it cooled down.

What are you using to determine "warm water"? I use a laser thermometer since to me warm is about 120 degrees and that is no bueno for a tort.

I just used my finger. I basically do it to what I would bath a baby in and I think that other comment was right because as the water cooled it was like he wanted to get out.

Not your finger, I've never had to buy a thermometer, test the water with your wrist, sorta like you were warming up a baby bottle. But tortoises need to have the water warmer then ours, and a little above the bridge'

Yep, that sounds about right. Higher than wrist temp seems to work. Until our Sully got too large to fit into our kitchen sink, it was a daily ritual. Not too hot, never too cold - just right. You can tell when you have the sweet spot.

Looks great. How long are you soaking try 30 mins but you also need to check temps you want around 33 degrees C. I use 2 x washing up bowls side by side with 1 in use and next one ready when temp is low and water messy.

2 bowls is a good idea I used a tub today then had to transfer him to the sink while I changed water etc ?
