Hard to say. Can we see more pictures of the whole turtle? My first guess was going to be a very young eastern, but then I realized its not so young. Does it have only 3 toes on the back feet?

It looks like an eastern box turtle to me. The care of all those subspecies of the eastern box turtle is basically the same.
