I’ve found some spider plants in my local garden centre. At least I hope they’re spider plants? lol are they suitable to Herman torts?

That sure looks like a spider plant to me. Remember that store bought decorative plants are grown with toxic systemic pesticides. You'll need to replant it in pesticide free soil and give it a few months before allowing the tortoise to have access to it. Its best to grow your own from the little "spiderettes" that are produced by these plants.

I second the "spiderettes" idea. Having a "mother plant" will supply you with new plants to replace trampled and chomped ones. Also you can plant 2-4 smaller plants in a single pot to make more dense shading.

Yep planting ‘spiderettes’ is a great shout! Did that for our red foot😁if once you plant then in the enclosure and by some miracle your guy hasn’t destroyed them by time they start growing their own ‘soiderettes’ be sure to cut them off because the seeds and flowers are toxic👍🏻
