Following months of short, cold days and varied weather. Brumation was achieved and when completed Speedy spent the winter in his enclosed enclosure mainly hiding, asleep with little movement. I continued his long soaks, food and heat as normal over the months.
However today I was welcomed with a wide awake tortoise, who ran over to me to say hello. I have soaked him, weighed him, applied coconut oil and when he returned to his enclosure he ate lots of fresh green food. Finally I have his personality back and looking forward to the months ahead particularly when he can be outside.
Interested to know if others are finding more motivated tortoises with a spring in their step? :tort::)

I haven't checked on my brumating tortoises yet (I don't bother them during the winter months), but my water turtles and box turtles are awake and rummaging around.
