can I feed my russian tortoise yellow or italian squash?

Yes, but not as a steady diet. Squash is considered fruit, as are all the "veggies" that have seeds in them, and fruit should be a small part of a Russian's diet...a very small part.

Once a month is fine, but for the record my 3 russians don't like the various squashes I have tried over the years. Their favorite so far are carrots and or strawberry tops.

Once a month, I will pick fresh strawberries cut them up and let them eat the tops, and I eat the fruit.

Great, thank you. He seems to enjoy a piece of an Apple. I am still experimenting on what he enjoys more.
