I think the owners description of the suspect is accurate. Who in their right mind would attack a tortoise?
That person would have their hands and arms grated with a cheese grater, salted and then jammed in my septic tank alive OR knocked out then buried up to the neck and decapitated very slowly with the bucket of my tractor, then all parts through the wood chipper.

Someone actually stole a shark too:

Sad! I'd be very angry! But this dude needs to not share so much info. Shouldn't point out cameras and shouldn't share value of fish and really should have alarms, specially if he's going to give out too much info.
Not sure if he doesn't have locks on his doors but need better ones if he does.

I've had turtles stolen from me before.

Some guys were doing work on our house. I had some gorgeous baby eastern box turtles I hatched out, and one that hatched out absolutely massive( the female hasn't produced since).

Everything was locked and secure, and I was confused as to how a Racoon could get into it. Not only that, but only eat a few and leave the rest when they were all bite sized.

Turned out one of the workers decided to shove some turtles in his pocket during a lunch break. The company said there was nothing they could do.

I literally planned on caving his face in until he coughed them up(i had a temper😂), but that was their last day.

Yeah in my head you are always still a woman before I remember you're not, so this was especially enjoyable to read, lol

This is very reasonable and appropriate to the circumstances!
