My father has this bye his pond to feed the geese. I was thinking about getting one for the sulcatas or aldabra when they get larger for their mazuri. Or I was thinking about a deer feeder with a timer. What do y'all think.

Oh. It wouldn't let me upload the picture, but what it is is a decoy tree stump that you can pour feed into. The feed comes out of two holes on each side close to the ground.

I hear what you're saying, but I think I would want my big tortoise to have more grass, hay, and weeds. What if you switched it and gave them a free-for-all feeder for hay like a goat feeder and then just supplemented mazuri during the week? Maybe some kind of variation of this? ...
