Oh? I’m 75% sure he’s a Greek tortoise! I hope I’ve not been wrong for the entirety of the time I’ve had him!Marginated Tortoise I believe
I'm sure someone will have better insight. I'm not 100%He’s 4 years old and 8 inches long, and I just read that Marginated tortoises are almost double that size at full maturity. Assuming Shelly is only a year away from becoming a ‘big boy’ I’m guessing he’s probably a Greek (what I assumed.. and what I hope, considering I’ve been following a Greek care sheet for him!)
I’m afraid you’re wrong! I just remembered Shelly has spurs on his thighs — so a spur thighed Greek tortoise! lolNah. Not a Greek. Check this out.

Thank you anyway!I'm sure someone will have better insight. I'm not 100%
I think your right. The flaring at the back threw me off, but it won't take long for someone to chime in.Thank you anyway!
He does have a big butt to be fair. hahaI think your right. The flaring at the back threw me off, but it won't take long for someone to chime in.
Does this help?Plastron and tail pics help when IDing torts too. Marginated torts have triangular plastron markings I believe.
He has spurs on both of his thighs.Does not look Greek to me but what do I know?
Thank you! I’m guessing ‘ibera’ but only because he fits the size range listed on the site. I’ve read they’re aggressive, though, and Shelly is such a sweet, docile boy! He even avoids biting me when I hand feed him, he’ll stop biting if my fingers get too close to his mouth.Have a read of this thread https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/greek-tortoise-care-guide.174622/
Also, the Greek page on Hermanni Haven might be helpful! https://www.hermannihaven.com/other-testudo
It's a Marginated Greek, Tammy, and you jolly well know it.Does not look Greek to me but what do I know?
