I notice I can buy bedding materials in bulk from landscape suppliers for a much cheaper price than pet suppliers. Is there any concern with using materials from these sources? Anything to watch out for?

just if the have fertilizer already mixed into the soil, I don't see any other problems.

Are you talking about mulch? If so make sure it's cypress and not cedar.

Yes. Cypress mulch is what I'm using.
