I am looking to start building an outdoor enclosure for my sulcata misty:) I want her to enjoy the real sun and graze naturally! She is the one I rescued early March, I want her to get a lot more natural light, I figure if I start building it now, by the time we finally get good consistent temps it will be ready to go:) I plan on using topsoil and cypress mulch, at least 6'x6' and planting the grazing tortoise seed mix :)
I will keep pics as I go, and any ideas or tips welcome :)

I would maybe just use top soil and seed and put mulch in her hide. Once they start grazing they will eat every bit of grass. I wouldn't want her to ingest any of the mulch. The room the better for grazing. What size is she?

How Big is the sulcata you are putting in there, ?
6x6 will work but later down the road you will have to use something bigger when it is full grown, just for your info.

She will get a lot bigger, especially with your good care.
But 6x6 will work now, to get her out. If you use cement blocks, etc., you can rearrange it to be larger and /or in a different location as she grows.
She is cute.

Blocks are a great idea! I could always add more to make it bigger!
I'm eager to get her out! We had a few real nice days and she loved it and now it's been to cold to take her out :)

One row would work at her size now. Eventually you will need higher walls. At that time, be sure you stagger the cement blocks (using the 1/2 blocks) for extra stability. You can also pound rebar down inside the blocks to strengthen them. But that is in the future!

Post pics when you have your current enclosure set up! Don't forget a shady spot/burrow.

I buy it in the bricks, probably the most economical, for $8.99 3 bricks covered a 40 gal critter cage with full capability to burrow at will :)
