summer finally arrived , summer to me is when the nights no longer get into the low 40's and 30's ....... record breaking warm winter , and a really cold spring ........ warm winter was easy on the turtles unless they didn't get deep enough, moved, and got stuck in a less than adequate spot when the temps crashed , which i'm guessing happened to this one..... her eyes were pretty badly freeze damaged , was pretty worrisome to see..... she finally opened them last week , the left eye looks good , the right eye is looking a lot better .... she can see now and she started eating, was a long time for this little turtle not to eat , that added to the worry .......

Mark do you have a pond, your fish and aquatic turtles at your new place ?
I set up 2 8 ft round stock tanks for temporary ponds and downsized some species. Kept all the spotted I could find set up in one. Some painted, map, musk and cooters in other. Digging a much larger pond now.

the girl on the right had her eyes freeze last winter, didn't look good, i thought she'd die or end up blind , their resilience is pretty amazing .

i think eastern box turtles can be some of the most colorful turtles that exist, it's just there local and get taken for granted....
