Hello Tortoise Forum. So basically it rains everyday in my area (because of rainy season). Most of the days are cloudy. Because of this, i am not able to provide much UVB to my tortoise. Only 2-3 days a week I keep my tortoise in sunlight. Do I have to shift to artificial UVB lights? I still don't see any lack of activity in him. to be honest, he is even hyperactive when he sees his food (especially cucumbers lol).

Every day they need to bask under a 95-100F basking bulb.
But as far as uvb, 3 times a week is fine as long as it's a few hours on those days but with shade always provided. If you can't get him outside at least that much then yes you would need to provide uvb.

Thank you, so I gotta turn on the basking lamp from morning to evening?

When housed indoors they need their full compliment of indoor lighting, including the basking lamp for at least 12 hours a day, bright ambient lighting during the day, thermostat controlled ambient heat, and a UV tube if they are not getting some sunshine at least a couple of times per week.

Hi and welcome,
What species is your tortoise?
You'll get great advice about caring for him when we know that.
