Hello! I have a 1 year old male tortoise and ive had him a little over a month now. . I have recently noticed the top of his neck is swollen (pics soon) maybe its normal but im just a concerned new parent =p thanks.
While I've never worked with this species, ff the neck actually IS swollen, I'm pretty sure its fluid retention due to either renal failure or some sort of infection. Could she have inhaled some sort of irritants, or a large amount of dust particles? This can cause an inflammation of the trachea, causing an immune response and building up fluids around the neck.
However, all of this is rather regardless, because it doesn't look the least bit swollen to me.
