If you do add another piece of wood to close her peephole put it on the outer side of her enclosure. If she can get a toe hold at all.. she may be over that thing before you know it! I found out the hard way a couple of years ago. Luckily he was found two miles away by car... Not as a bird flies or a tortoise roams tho. My two will even bulldoze rocks up against the wall to climb on up!
So looks like we have a Duke instead of a Dutchess... hmmm that would maybe explain a weird experience last fall before brumation of something protruding out the backend area .. I only caught it briefly and was afraid it was a temporary bowel thing..after I did warm soaks everything seemed to "calm" down and then brumation happened... goodness I feel silly!
oh for sure.. he/she's a climber.. the best part would be sge woukd only be out in my backyard but I would still have to find her.. and there are not safe areas like the pool! Strange though she never goes near the edge of it.. goes up to it and walks away.. like she senses the draft of the water below..
Don't you feel silly! I didn't know Jethrine was a Jethro until she got back from her little escapade escape for 2 days. I thought it was some kind of prolapse because of some huge seeds that came out once we got her back. She was about 25 lb then. I was doing a long soak and oh my goodness there was an anaconda protruding out of her! Was headed to Little Rock 3 hours away looking at a $1,200 vet bill until I researched on here and realized that she was a Jethro. Ever since that day he loves to show his manhood to everyone and humps everything in sight... including his partner in crime Ms moxley.
